This is an account of a motorcycle trip that I took in the Summer of 2012. The trip was done solo on a Honda Pacific Coast 800. I took a little over five weeks and covered over seven thousand miles.

Goodbye and Thanks
I would like to thank everyone who encouraged and supported my adventure. It is a magnificent country, and I am fortunate that I had the opportunity to see it this way.
One more observation: Unless I missed one somewhere along the way, you rode through parts of 16 different states on your journey. Considering the miles traveled, that really gives you an idea of the vast expanse of land out there in the western half of the country! Here's the list as I was able to determine it. In order:
Virginia West Virginia Ohio Indiana Illinois Missouri Kansas Colorado New Mexico Arizona California Nevada Oregon Idaho Montana Nebraska Kansas (again) Missouri (again) Illinois (again) Indiana (again) Kentucky West Virginia (again) Virginia (again)
I'm glad I saw you before reading the last few weeks' posts - it was much more fun to see you striding through Wegman's in your Rt 66 tee shirt, looking feisty and fierce. You hadn't looked even remotely feisty and fierce for a long time, understandably.
You have not only exorcised, you have rejuvenated. You look ages younger, fitter and though fierce, peaceful. Maybe some Native American got into your psyche; maybe just lots of former you got into you.
What a joy to read about your adventure! Feisty and fierce! That’s just how I fondly remember you from La Canada High School English class, my inspirational favorite teacher! I’m especially grateful I met Pauline, an evening visit to your book-filled home.

Actually Hwy 50 from Virginia to Ohio goes through a sliver of Maryland.
Bye for now, but don't let the bike grow moss! You are now fast friends. :)

Welcome home. May it be a great year.
